Team News: Mesut Ozil absent for Arsenal

Mesut Ozil is absent from the Arsenal squad to face Sunderland, who make seven changes.

Arsene Wenger has made five changes from the side that beat Newcastle United 1-0 for this afternoon's FA Cup meeting with Sunderland.

Mesut Ozil is absent, while captain Mikel Arteta has returned to the team having recovered from injury. Alex Iwobi, meanwhile, is given his first start in this competition.

Jordan Pickford makes his debut between the sticks for the visiting Black Cats, fresh from his return from a loan spell at Preston North End, as Vito Mannone takes a place on the bench.

The youngster's inclusion is one of seven changes made by Sam Allardyce from the side that beat Aston Villa 3-1 last time out.

Steven Fletcher, Jeremain Lens and Danny Graham are among those returning to the side.
