Arsene Wenger praises "absolutely outstanding" Mesut Ozil

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger describes Mesut Ozil's performance during Saturday's FA Cup win over Everton as "absolutely outstanding".

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that Mesut Ozil was "absolutely outstanding" during the team's victory over Everton in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The German playmaker opened the scoring at the Emirates Stadium as the Gunners booked their place in the semi-finals with a 4-1 triumph.

Despite questions over Ozil's form in recent weeks, Wenger believes that he was back to his best at the weekend.

"I like the way he finished, calm in a convincing way," the Frenchman told the club's official website.

"He made great runs and he was absolutely outstanding from the first to the last minute."

Arsenal's reward for beating Everton is a semi-final encounter with holders Wigan Athletic.
