Barcelona are reportedly planning to extend Riqui Puig's contract at Camp Nou until June 2023.

The 21-year-old's future has been the subject of debate in recent months as his current deal with Ronald Koeman's side is due to expire at the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

Barca have the option of activating a two-year extension, though, and according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan giants will be ensuring that the midfielder cannot leave on a free transfer next summer.

Romano also claims that Koeman's team are not currently looking to loan out the Spaniard during the January window despite a lack of action this term.

Puig, who came through the club's youth system, has only played four minutes of La Liga football this season, but he did feature on three occasions in the group stages of the Champions League.

Both Arsenal and Manchester City are allegedly interested in his services.

Omar Rekik 'to join Arsenal in £540,000 deal'

Arsenal will reportedly sign Hertha Berlin youngster Omar Rekik during the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old is yet to make a first-team appearance for his German club but has impressed at youth level, with his performances allegedly leading to a host of interest.

According to Bild, the Gunners have won the race to sign the centre-back, who will cost Mikel Arteta's side in the region of €600,000 (£540,000).

The report claims that Rekik has received offers from across Europe, but he will now travel to London ahead of penning a contract with the capital giants.

The Tunisia Under-21s international could be loaned back to Hertha for the remainder of the 2020-21 campaign, according to football.london, but he has allegedly been told that he will train regularly with the first team when he officially joins the club.

The teenager's older brother Karim Rekik left Hertha for Sevilla during the summer transfer window.
