Diego Maradona slams Lionel Messi for Argentina displays

Diego Maradona says that Lionel Messi failed to produce his best form for Argentina at the Copa America.

Argentina legend Diego Maradona has criticised Lionel Messi for his displays at international level.

The Barcelona star has come under fresh scrutiny following Argentina's failure to win the Copa America.

"We have the best player in the world and he scores four goals against Real Sociedad but comes here and doesn't touch the ball," Maradona told Ole.

"You ask yourself: 'Are you Argentine or Swedish?' Criticising him is easy.

"Don't say any more that we have to pamper him. He should be treated just like any other player in the national team."

Messi has scored 46 goals in 103 games for Argentina.
