Sergio Aguero backs goal-shy Lionel Messi to find form for Argentina

Argentina hitman Sergio Aguero tips goal-shy Lionel Messi to rediscover his red-hot form in front of goal before the Copa America comes to a conclusion.

Sergio Aguero has backed Argentina teammate Lionel Messi to rediscover his talismanic form before their Copa America finishes this summer.

Much has been made over Messi's displays in the competition thus far, having netted just once in four games - a penalty in the Albiceleste's opening game.

However, Aguero, who has netted twice, says that the Barcelona superstar will not stop until he finds a level of performance comparable to his club form.

"Messi always wants to do better and when he does not score goals he starts saying 'I did not get lucky,'" he told TyC. "But I tell him 'be quiet, the goals will come, you have to be patient'.

"Leo is always under such pressure to score goals. It is the same for me, though there are 10 other players in the team than yourself.

"Obviously everyone can make mistakes, but Messi always gambles and keeps going and going. And that gives us all confidence, because if Leo keeps going then we do too."

Gerardo Martino's men face Paraguay in Wednesday's semi-final, which kicks off at 12:30am. Peru and host nation Chile contest the other semi on Tuesday morning.
