Mark Stewart gave the hosts the lead early in the second half before Fraser Fyvie hit back for Hibs, leaving it to Lewis Vaughan to seal the points with a late winner.
Rangers moved level on points with the Edinburgh outfit thanks to a 4-1 victory at home to struggling Cowdenbeath, with three of their goals coming in the final 10 minutes.
