Ajax exacted revenge on Groningen for their defeat earlier this season by recording a 2-0 Eredivisie victory at the Amsterdam ArenA this evening.
Ricardo Kishna scored early on before a stoppage-time own goal secured the hosts a win which takes them to within a point of leaders PSV Eindhoven.
Frank de Boer's side have now gone 14 league matches without losing since they went down to Groningen by the reverse scoreline in August.
Kishna's 15th-minute strike, which was supplied by Lasse Schone, was his second of the season, but only one of four shots on target that Ajax managed throughout.
Their slender lead came under threat in the latter stages as Jarchinio Antonia and Michael de Leeuw had chances to snatch Groningen a fifth 1-1 draw in six games.
However, it was Ajax who scored again as Johan Kappelhof turned a cross into his own net on 91 minutes.
