Ajax confirm that they have appointed Alfred Schreuder as the club's new head coach, replacing Manchester United-bound Erik ten Hag.

Ajax have appointed Club Brugge boss Alfred Schreuder as the replacement for Manchester United-bound Erik ten Hag.

Last month, it was confirmed that Ten Hag would be moving to Old Trafford, but the Dutchman has consistently said that he remained focused on trying to win the Eredivisie with Ajax.

On Wednesday night, that targeted was achieved, and it has seemingly freed up Ajax to press forward with their plans for the future.

In an official announcement on Thursday afternoon, Schreuder has penned a two-year deal with Ajax, ending a brief spell at Club Brugge after only moving to Belgium in January.

As well as winning 14 of his 19 games at Brugge, the 49-year-old was also Ronald Koeman's assistant during his time at Barcelona.

Schreuder is no stranger to life at Ajax having previously acted as Ten Hag's number two at the Johan Cruyff Arena during 2018-19.
