Ajax coach Frank de Boer claims that he side deserved more in their 2-1 defeat to Celtic in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

De Boer's side were beaten at Celtic Park to leave them with just one point from three games in their group, and the Dutchman thought that his team should have won the game.

"In football, the best team does not always win," De Boer told NOS.

"If you compare the chances of both teams, then we should have won tonight. We created some real chances and they did not.

"We shouldn't give away penalties as easy as we did today. It's an unfortunate moment of Stefano Denswil because he's still very young, but as a defender you should not challenge like that unless you are 100% sure you'll get the ball."

The two teams will play each other again in the next round of Champions League games, at the Amsterdam ArenA.
