League Two roundup: Top three all win

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday's action in League One, including wins for Scunthorpe United, Burton Albion and Chesterfield.

The top three teams in League Two all won on Saturday to strengthen their respective bids for automatic promotion.

Scunthorpe United remain top of the table thanks to a 2-0 win at Mansfield Town. Iron debutant Paul Hayes scored both goals at Field Mill.

Burton Albion are still just two points off the pace after coming from behind to beat Cheltenham Town 2-1 at the Pirelli Stadium. Byron Harrison broke the deadlock on 62 minutes, before substitute Dominic Knowles netted a brace for the Brewers.

Third-placed Chesterfield extended their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions by thrashing 10-man Bury. Gary Roberts, Jay O'Shea, Marc Richards and new boy Dan Gardner found the net to down the Shakers, who saw Danny Mayor sent off in first-half stoppage time.

Rochdale kept up the pressure on the top three by winning 3-0 at Hartlepool United, who are now just five points clear of the relegation places as Torquay United edged closer to safety by defeating AFC Wimbledon 2-0 away from home.

Torquay remain in the drop zone, but the Gulls are level on points with Accrington Stanley, who drew 3-3 with Newport County, and Bristol Rovers, who recorded a much-needed 2-1 victory over Exeter City.

Northampton Town stay bottom of the pile following a 2-0 reverse against York City.

Elsewhere, Plymouth Argyle and Southend United drew 1-1, which was also the score at the Globe Arena, where Morecambe were held by Wycombe Wanderers.
