Filippo Inzaghi: 'I do not fear for Milan job'

AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi says that he does not fear the prospect of being sacked, and claims that he has the backing of president Silvio Berlusconi.

Under-fire AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi has insisted that he is not concerned about his job at San Siro.

Inzaghi has only led the Rossoneri to two Serie A victories since October in a series of results that includes four defeats and six draws.

Speculation is rife in Italy that Milan's hierarchy have identified former Roma boss Luciano Spalletti as the man to replace the 41-year-old.

The club sit eighth in the standings, eight points adrift of the Champions League qualification places, and Inzaghi says that it is not too late to stage a comeback.

"The president (Silvio Berlusconi) has been calling me all week twice a day," he told reporters. "I am fully aware of his closeness and that of the club's in an uneasy moment.

"I am sure that we will come out of it. Every match is decisive for me. We have two tough matches against Lazio. Nothing has been compromised because we're in a normal position in the league table.

"Often all you need is just one match, a spark to get out of it. I expected a bit of a telling off from Berlusconi which didn't happen because he knows that we're giving our all and working very well."

Inzaghi's side travel to Rome for a clash with Lazio this evening.
