Aberdeen striker Stevie May reportedly becomes a target for St Mirren after a proposed move to St Johnstone falls through.

St Mirren are reportedly interested in Aberdeen striker Stevie May after his proposed transfer to St Johnstone fell through.

The 26-year-old has struggled with injuries since leaving the Saints in 2014, failing to cement himself at Sheffield Wednesday, Preston North End and most recently the Dons, where he has scored just eight goals in 75 appearances.

May had been expected to re-join the Perthshire club on a three-year deal earlier this week after passing a medical, but talks broke down and now the deal is believed to be 'dead'.

According to the Daily Record, that has opened the door for St Mirren to potentially make a move for the 2014 Scottish Cup winner.

Jim Goodwin's side have had a nightmare start to the season, crashing out of the Scottish League Cup after losing on penalties to Lowland League side East Kilbride.
