Aberdeen edge past Kilmarnock

Aberdeen edge past Kilmarnock 2-1 in the Scottish Premiership at the Pittodrie Stadium.

Jonny Hayes scored the first-ever goal in the Scottish Premiership as Aberdeen edged past Kilmarnock at the Pittodrie Stadium.

Hayes fired home from close range after goalkeeper Craig Samson had parried Calvin Zola's effort to give Aberdeen a 1-0 lead going into half time.

Aberdeen continued to dominate after the break and were rewarded when Willo Flood headed home a second on his competitive debut.

Kilmarnock briefly sparked into life late on in the second half with Kris Boyd reducing the deficit, but the Dons managed to hold on to extend their five-game unbeaten run from the end of last season.
