The Batman 'to continue filming without Robert Pattinson'

Filming on The Batman is reportedly set to continue despite leading man Robert Pattinson coming down with coronavirus.

Production of The Batman is reportedly set to continue despite lead star Robert Pattinson contracting coronavirus in recent days.

The reboot of the iconic franchise - masterminded by Matt Reeves - began filming again in Hertfordshire earlier this week after six months of shutdown due to the pandemic.

Yesterday it emerged that the production had been thrown into fresh chaos after Pattinson, 34, tested positive for the killer virus and has now entered a mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Initially it was reported that filming would be paused again but according to the Daily Mail, producers have been "working around the clock" to rearrange the shoot to film as many scenes as possible without Pattinson's involvement.

The newspaper says that any crew members who did not have direct contact with the actor have been asked to return to work, while the relevant sets are being moved to a new studio on the Warner Bros. lot.

"Anything that can be shot and does not involve Pattinson will now go ahead," said a source. "That includes scenes with his body double.

"The aim is to get as much done as possible before he returns and the hope is that none of the other actors get the virus.

"Crew can be replaced as most are freelance and hired for the duration of the shoot but it would be disastrous if another major actor gets the virus.

"Production staff are working round the clock to get things moving and allow some filming to take place."

The Batman is slated for release on October 1, 2021.
