Helen Worth confirms her own return to Coronation Street filming

Helen Worth reveals that she will be back filming Coronation Street when full production starts up again next month.

Coronation Street legend Helen Worth has confirmed that she will be returning to filming next month when the show resumes full production.

The soap stopped shooting new material in March due to the coronavirus pandemic but is gearing up for a return on June 1 with strict health and safety measures in place on set.

Bill Roache, 88, yesterday admitted that it may be "some time" before Ken Barlow is back on the cobbles due to concerns over COVID-19.

At the age of 69, Worth, who has played Gail Platt since 1974, is on the cusp of entering the age bracket considered to be most at vulnerable from the virus, but speaking on This Morning today, she revealed that she will be reporting for duty as usual next month.

"We are going back in a few weeks I think, it's all been organised by ITV," she said. "It will be safe for us to go back.

"I think Iain (MacLeod, producer) said there'll be some reference to Covid-19 but I'm not sure how much.

"I do know they've been working on it since lockdown started. The writers are brilliant at coming up with ideas if they need to."

ITV is thought to have enough episodes of Corrie in reserve to keep it on air until Friday, July 3.
