Jack Laugher has just missed out on scooping a bronze 3m medal at the World Diving Series in Beijing.
The 20-year-old, who also narrowly lost out in the synchro event, was overtaken in the final round by Germany's Patrick Hausding.
Laugher put in consistent performances across his six dives, all registering 80-plus, with a low of 81.90 for his new dive - the ambitious 4-1/2 somersault 3 twist pike - which carries a 3.9 degree of difficulty.
Hausding, who was also responsible for edging out Laugher and synchro partner Mears yesterday, saved the same dive until last, registering a score of 97.50.
China's He Chong retained gold with 551.50, with synchro gold medallist Cao Yuan finishing with 542.70 for silver.
