England diver Jack Laugher has expressed his delight over bouncing back from the "horrible experience" of the London Olympics by winning gold at the Commonwealth Games.
The 19-year-old secured first place in tonight's 1m springboard final, producing a six-dive total of 449.90 to comfortably beat Australia's Matthew Mitcham in silver.
The achievement is in stark contrast to Laugher's performance in London two years ago, where he represented Team GB but failed to reach the semi-finals.
"To go and get gold is amazing. The first two dives were bit shaky but I went well overall," he told BBC Sport.
"I had a tough Olympics two years ago and this puts it right a little bit. London 2012 was a horrible experience, but I've bounced back.
"I've got the 3m springboard to come and I'd love to double up! I'm going to try to my hardest."
Mitcham's compatriot Grant Nel finished with a bronze.
