Commonwealth bronze medallist Oliver Dingley reveals parents missed preliminary round

England's bronze medal-winning diver Oliver Dingley reveals that his father tried to buy tickets from spectators this morning after failing to secure some.

Bronze medal-winning England diver Oliver Dingley has revealed that his father tried to buy tickets from spectators entering the Royal Commonwealth Pool this morning after failing to secure some.

Dingley's parents weren't able to get their hands on tickets for his Commonwealth Games 3m springboard preliminary session in Edinburgh this morning, but were at the final tonight, where Dingley won his first international medal behind Malaysia's Ooi Tze Liang and fellow Englishman Jack Laugher.

"Unfortunately they weren't able to get tickets for my prelim," Dingley told reporters. "I didn't actually realise they were all here, so I actually didn't know my mum and dad were here until I went over to wave to them. It was really sweet to be able to see them, a really special moment.

"My dad was there this morning outside trying to buy tickets off people. He had no luck but luckily he was here now for the big one."

At the last Commonwealth Games in Delhi, Dingley, then 17, finished 11th in the 3m springboard final.
