Tom Daley has qualified for the semi-final of the men's 10m platform despite failing to capture his top form in the preliminaries.

The Team GB diver looked shaky throughout, but did manage to impress the judges with a armstand back triple somersault in the third round.

Daley progressed to the last 18 in 15th place with a final score of 448.45, more than 100 points behind first-placed Qiu Bo of China.

Qiu was in spectacular form, barely faltering throughout. He goes into the semi-final as the clear favourite after racking up an impressive score of 563.70.

There was disappointment for Daley's teammate Peter Waterfield, who also struggled to find form. He was marked down heavily for his inward 3 1/2 somersault in the second round and failed to recover.

The 31-year-old came away with a final score of 412.45 for a final placing of 23rd, more than 26 points off a qualification spot.

The men's 10m platform semi-final takes place at the Aquatics Centre at 10am tomorrow.
