Great Britain women's wheelchair basketball side win bronze

Great Britain beat France to take bronze in the women's wheelchair basketball European Championships.

Great Britain women's wheelchair basketball team have beaten France 69-39 to win the European Championship bronze medal.

Britain bounced back from a narrow 56-55 semi-final defeat at the hands of Paralympic champions Germany on Friday night to secure their fourth straight European Championship bronze.

"Friday's defeat was hard for us to take but I'm very proud of the way we have come out to win bronze," captain Sophie Carrigill told BBC Sport.

"This tournament has been a massive motivator for all of us. We have developed so much as a team and that is a real benefit for us ahead of Rio."

Great Britain had already booked their place at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro by beating Spain on Thursday to guarantee a top-four spot at the tournament.
