Phil Taylor has eased to an 18-9 triumph over Michael van Gerwen to win the World Matchplay title for the 15th time.
The world number two has enjoyed unrivalled success on the Winter Gardens stage in Blackpool, and that continued on Sunday night as he thrashed his main rival.
After the opening two legs were shared, Taylor surged into an 11-2 advantage before a 127 checkout helped Van Gerwen reduce the deficit to six legs.
However, Taylor maintained the six-leg margin in moving to 13-7 before he won five of the final seven legs to win his 35th successive match at the event.
Despite losing to the Stoke-on-Trent thrower, Van Gerwen retains his place at the top of the PDC Order of Merit.
