The world number one raced into a 7-0 lead in the best of 12 clash at Liverpool's Echo Arena, with 'The Power' failing to register a single leg.
Victory for the 24-year-old, who won four legs against the throw averaging 109.59, takes him to the top of the early table standings.
Elsewhere, Dave Chisnall beat Robert Thornton 7-5, while there was also victories for Peter Wright and Raymond van Barneveld, who saw off Wes Newton and Gary Anderson respectively.
The final match of the night sees Simon Whitlock face former World Champion Adrian Lewis.
