Michael van Gerwen delighted with "difficult" win

Michael van Gerwen admits his relief at beating James Wade to reach his first PDC World Championship final.

Michael van Gerwen has expressed his delight at beating James Wade in the semi-finals of the PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace.

The Dutchman, who was one dart away from achieving two consecutive nine-dart finishes, saw off his English opponent 6-4 to reach his first final.

"It was a very difficult game for me because I haven't beaten him before on TV and it was great to do it in a tournament like this," the 23-year-old told Sky Sports News.

Van Gerwen will meet Phil Taylor in Tuesday's final following the 15-time champion's 6-4 triumph over Raymond van Barneveld.
