Phil Taylor is through to the second round of the PDC World Grand Prix after a 2-0 win over Michael Smith.

Fifteen-time world champion Phil Taylor has advanced to the second round of the World Grand Prix after he defeated Michael Smith 2-0 in Dublin.

Taylor has struggled for form in recent months but he recorded an average of over 100 to see off Smith, and he will now face UK Open champion Robert Thornton after the Scot beat Mark Walsh 2-1.

Gary Anderson was dumped out by last year's runner-up Brendan Dolan as several star names made an early exit.

Dolan defeated Anderson 2-0, while Justin Pipe and Mervyn King recorded 2-1 victories over Simon Whitlock and Terry Jenkins respectively.

In the match of the night, Dave Chisnall recovered from missing nine match darts to defeat Dean Winstanley in a final-leg decider.
