Team Wales cyclist Ieuan Williams has expressed his delight at having secured a bronze medal in the men's 1,000m time trial B tandem today.
Williams acted as pilot for Matthew Ellis as the Welsh picked up their first medal at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome courtesy of a time of 1:04.095.
The duo were first out, meaning that they set the benchmark in the discipline's Commonwealth Games debut, but their marker was broken twice more before their place on the podium was confirmed.
"[We're] ecstatic with [bronze]. Two-and-a-half years of training and to have reached this point is just excellent," Williams told Sports Mole.
"We were first out and this is the first time it has ever been run so we were fairly guaranteed of [setting a record], but it was a good time and two people didn't manage to reach that after us so I'm happy with the time. The two that beat us, they're world champions."
Scottish pair Neil Fachie and Craig MacLean picked up the gold medal.
