Anthony Kappes wins gold in the men's individual pursuit

Anthony Kappes wins gold in the men's individual pursuit, as Neil Fachie takes silver.

Anthony Kappes and his pilot Craig Maclean have won the gold medal in the men's individual team pursuit.

Kappes beat fellow Briton Neil Fachie in the final to complete a British one-two.

The first race started slowly, as pursuits usually do, with Kappes reluctantly taking the lead.

Both riders started their sprint early and Kappes was able to keep the lead to go one up.

A similar pattern occurred in the second race, with Fachie leading this time.

Kappes used the gap to his advantage though, and rushed past the other bike to win the gold medal.

Kappes was the reigning champion, but this was his first win with Maclean as his pilot.

In the third-place match, Spain beat Japan to take the bronze medal.
