Frank Schleck to argue "poisoning" for failed drugs test

Luxembourg cyclist Frank Schleck insists that he will argue that he is a "victim of poisoning" if his failed drugs test is confirmed following an additional analysis.

RadioShack-Nissan rider Frank Schleck has 'categorically denied' taking any illegal substances and has requested that his 'B' sample be tested after failing a drugs test.

The 32-year-old was withdrawn from the Tour de France yesterday after testing positive for banned substance diuretic Xipamide.

The Luxembourg cyclist has urged for his sample to be checked and plans to fight his corner if the illegal substance does prove to be within his system.

"If this analysis confirms the initial result, I will argue that I have been the victim of poisoning," said Schleck.

The rider, who finished third in last year's race, was nine minutes and 45 seconds behind overall leader Bradley Wiggins.
