Great British cyclist Sir Chris Hoy is tipped to reveal his retirement plans to the media on Thursday.

Six-time Olympic gold medal winner Sir Chris Hoy has confirmed that he will be holding a press conference on Thursday in his hometown of Edinburgh where he could announce his retirement from cycling.

The 37-year-old is believed to have been considering his future since the conclusion of the Olympics in London last year.

Some reports have claimed that the Scot is planning to retire with immediate effect, while others have suggested that he will call time on his career after the 2014 Commonwealth Games, which are also in Edinburgh.

Two of Hoy's British record six Olympic gold medals were won in London.
