Team Sky boss Sir Dave Brailsford has confirmed that Sir Bradley Wiggins will ride the Tour of Britain in September rather than compete in the Vuelta a Espana.
Wiggins, 34, won the Tour of Britain last year, but had hinted he would ride take part in the Vuelta a Espana as part of his preparations for the road World Championships in Spain next month.
"He'll ride the Tour of Britain," Brailsford told BBC Sport.
"We hope that will give him the right training preparations to go to the World Championships, and try to deliver in the individual time trial again, which he did so brilliantly last year. We hope he'll do the same again this year."
The Tour of Britain runs from September 7 to September 14, and so overlaps with the final week of the Vuelta a Espana, which starts on August 23.
