Thor Hushovd to retire after Impanis-Van Petegem

Norway's Thor Hushovd will ride his last race as a professional cyclist at this Saturday's Primus Classic Impanis-Van Petegem in Belgium.

BMC Racing have confirmed that Norwegian rider Thor Hushovd will retire after Saturday's Primus Classic Impanis-Van Petegem race in Belgium.

The 36-year-old, who is calling time on his 15-year professional career, has been with BMC Racing since 2012.

"It has been a real pleasure to have Thor be a part of the BMC Racing Team in the twilight of his career," BMC Racing general manager Jim Ochowicz said on the team's official website.

"We will not soon forget the impact he has had on the sport, especially in his home country of Norway."

Hushovd's career highlights include the world title in 2010, 10 stage wins and two points classification titles at the Tour de France and three Norwegian national road and time trial victories.
