Cyclist Thor Hushovd has been forced to pull out of the Norway team for this summer's Olympic Games in London with a virus.
The 34-year-old had hoped to make a full recovery from the illness by the time that the Games came around.
However, with the road race due to take place on July 28, Hushovd has taken the decision to withdraw his services with the team's best interests in mind.
"The Olympics have been my main aim all season [but] my focus has been for Norway to have the best possible team and when my body is not working properly then I sadly have to withdraw," he said. "I wish the Norwegian team all the best at the Olympics."
His place in the squad has been taken by Vegard Stake Laengen.
