Chris Froome will not take part in the Tirreno-Adriatico stage race in Italy as he is dealing with a chest infection.
The 29-year-old, who won the Tour de France in 2013, was expected to compete this week against Vincenzo Nibali and Alberto Contador.
However, the Team Sky rider confirmed his absence on Twitter by saying: "Still not feeling well so won't be making it to #TirrenoAdriatico2015 Really disappointed but health comes first! Time for some R&R..."
Froome won the Ruta del Sol stage race last month.
