Rohan Dennis breaks world hour record

Australian rider Rohan Dennis sets a new fastest time for the world hour record in Switzerland.

Rohan Dennis has become the new holder of the world hour record after successfully beating the previous time set by Matthias Brandle.

Brandle's effort of 51.852km had topped the listings since October, but Australian rider Dennis comfortably set a new mark in Switzerland.

The 24-year-old, who recently won the Tour Down Under, registered a distance of 52.491km to become the latest holder of a record that has become increasingly popular over the past 12 months.

Former Tour de France winner Sir Bradley Wiggins and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Alex Dowsett have signalled their intentions to attempt the record at some point in 2015.
