Andy Tennant: 'Sir Bradley Wiggins is the greatest cyclist to have ever lived'

England cyclist Andy Tennant tells Sports Mole that teammate Sir Bradley Wiggins is the "best bike rider to have ever lived".

Team England cyclist Andy Tennant has hailed compatriot Sir Bradley Wiggins as the "best bike rider to have ever lived".

Tennant was alongside the four-time Olympic gold medallist on his return to the track yesterday as Team England picked up the silver in the 4,000m team pursuit at the Commonwealth Games.

Tennant revealed that Wiggins was an inspiration to him and had had a big impact on the team as a whole since his return.

"I can't really sum it up in a short period. He's fantastic to have around, great round the dinner table," Tennant told Sports Mole.

"Obviously his credentials as a bike rider are ridiculous - he's probably the best bike rider to have ever lived. He is a great inspiration to myself and the other lads on the team. Having him in the team in fantastic, and he just gives you confidence."

Tennant narrowly missed out on the 4,000m individual pursuit bronze-medal race at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome today, finishing fifth in qualifying with a time of 4:23.723.
