Jason Kenny "happy" with silver medal in individual sprint

Team England cyclist Jason Kenny is happy with having picked up a silver medal in the individual sprint at the Commonwealth Games this evening.

Team England cyclist Jason Kenny has said that he is content with having picked up a silver medal in the men's individual sprint at the Commonwealth Games this evening.

The three-time Olympic gold medallist was beaten in the final by New Zealand's Sam Webster at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, leaving him with his second silver of the Games so far.

However, having failed to make it past the quarter-finals in the World Championships earlier this year, a medal represents a significant improvement for Kenny, who only snuck into the second day courtesy of victory in the repechage on Thursday.

"I'm happy to get a medal. I really enjoyed today to be honest," he told Sports Mole after the race.

"It was a tough day, there wasn't a lot of rest in between the rides, you know, 10-15 minutes and then you're straight back up so it was a really tough day. But there was some good racing in there and the crowd seemed to enjoy it as well, which is always nice."

Kenny's first silver in Glasgow came in the team sprint event yesterday.
