West Indies have got their ICC Champions Trophy campaign off to a winning start after beating Pakistan by two wickets at The Oval.

After winning the toss, West Indies began strongly with fast bowler Kemar Roach taking three wickets in his opening four overs.

Misbah-ul-Haq and Nasir Jamshed offered some resistance, putting on 80 for the fourth wicket before Jamshed was dismissed for 50.

Pakistan wickets began to tumble with four falling for just 31 runs, but Misbah remained at the crease, scoring 96 not out before the dismissal of Mohammed Irfan, which saw Pakistan bowled out for 170.

Pakistan made early inroads into the West Indies batting lineup, taking the wickets of Johnson Charles and Darren Bravo for a duck to leave their opponents at 15-2.

Chris Gayle, the highest run-scorer in Champions Trophy history, made 39 before being bowled out by Saeed Ajmal.

Wahab Riaz took the wicket of Ramnaresh Sarwan and Marlon Samuels was run out soon after as West Indies were reduced to 94-5.

Kieron Pollard scored 30 before being caught out by Kamran Akmal and five balls later, Dwayne Bravo followed his teammate back to the pavilion after being trapped lbw by Ajmal.

Sunil Narine was dismissed with the West Indies needing seven runs for victory to give Pakistan some hope, but Roach hit a lofted four over backward point to secure the win with two wickets to spare.
