West Indies hero Carlos Brathwaite pays tribute to Marlon Samuels

Carlos Brathwaite is quick to pay tribute to teammate Marlon Samuels after smashing the West Indies to victory in the World Twenty20 final against England.

West Indies hero Carlos Braithwaite has paid tribute to teammate Marlon Samuels after hitting four sixes in a row in the final over to win the World Twenty20 final against England.

The Windies needed an unlikely 19 off the final over to become the first nation to win the tournament twice, and Brathwaite hit Ben Stokes to all corners to end a memorable final in Kolkata.

Samuels was at the crease as well and he was named man of the match for his unbeaten 85 which helped steady the innings after three early wickets fell.

Speaking afterwards, Brathwaite said: "Don't forget the amazing knock Marlon Samuels played, he took responsibility and played a fantastic knock. I wish I could use some expletives to explain how good an innings that was.

"It was a matter of when, not if. The Under-19s did it, the girls did it, and now us."

Samuels was also man of the match in the final when the West Indies won the World T20 for the first time four years ago in Sri Lanka.
