India captain MS Dhoni has claimed that losing the toss was a "pivotal" moment in his side's World Twenty20 semi-final defeat to West Indies this afternoon.
The hosts went crashing out of the competition courtesy of a surprise seven-wicket defeat to the Windies, who won the toss and sent India in to bat first.
Dhoni believes that the weather nullified the threat of his side's spinners when they eventually had a chance to bowl, with Lendl Simmons (83*), Johnson Charles (52) and Andre Russell (43*) all able to build significant scores.
"I think losing the toss was pivotal. The spinners didn't have an effect because of the dew and that made it very difficult for us," Dhoni told Sky Sports News.
"The spinners were not effective because of the wet ball and that has been a big problem for us. So we were disappointed about the two no-balls, but other than that the boys tried their best."
West Indies will now face England in Sunday's final in Calcutta.
