Kevin Pietersen suffers minor injury while playing for Surrey

Kevin Pietersen gets struck in the hand during Surrey's match against Oxford University, but the club insist that the ex-England batsman is fine.

Surrey have calmed concerns over a minor injury suffered to Kevin Pietersen by insisting that he was taken out of the match against Oxford University as a precaution.

The 34-year-old batsman was hit on the hand with a ball while fielding during Oxford's second innings at The Parks today.

Pietersen eventually walked off the field and did not return after tea, but according to reports, Surrey physio Alex Tysoe later confirmed that the batsman is fine.

Pietersen, who scored 170 on his county cricket return, signed for Surrey with the hope of boosting his return to the England side following his axe from the squad last year.
