Kevin Pietersen: 'I was offered clean slate'

Kevin Pietersen vents his anger on Twitter after claiming that the ECB offered him a 'clean slate' with regards to future England selection.

Kevin Pietersen has claimed that he was offered a 'clean slate' by the England & Wales Cricket Board, despite his recent omission from the England reckoning.

Despite hitting 355 for Surrey against Leicestershire across Monday and Tuesday, new ECB director Andrew Strauss ruled out an international return for Pietersen.

Strauss cited that he has 'trust issues' with the South African-born batsman, and Pietersen took to twitter to vent his frustration.

He tweeted: "No one is guaranteed selection. I was told there was a CLEAN SLATE. I wanted to earn my place back..."

The Pietersen saga has divided English cricket in recent months, with Ian Bell backing the player to make a return.
