Sri Lanka dominate day one against Pakistan

Sri Lanka reach 70-1 at the end of day one of the second Test in Colombo, as they chase down Pakistan's first-innings total of 138.

Sri Lanka have reached 70-1 against Pakistan at the end of the first day of the second Test in Colombo, after they restricted the tourists to a low first-innings score.

Pakistan, who currently lead the series 1-0, won the toss and elected to bat. They made a steady start to their innings, moving to 70-2 at lunch.

However, the Men in Green were blown away in the afternoon session as the hosts bowled them out for just 138 shortly before tea.

Dimuth Karunaratne and Kaushal Silva began the Sri Lankan response, the opening batsmen putting on 47 for the first wicket until Karunaratne edged a Junaid Khan delivery behind to Sarfraz Ahmed on 28.

Pakistan could not add to their wicket, however, as Kumar Sangakkara continued to add runs at a steady rate, scoring 18 from 36 balls before the close of play.

Sri Lanka will resume on day two with Sangakkara and Silva (21*) at the crease.
