South Africa lose openers Graeme Smith and Alviro Petersen early but manage to move to 104-2 by lunch against Pakistan in the third Test courtesy of Hashim Amla.

South Africa were dealt an early blow in the morning session of the third Test against Pakistan when Graeme Smith and Alviro Petersen were dismissed, but have been saved by Hashim Amla at the crease.

Petersen was the first to go for just 10 runs when he was swiftly hit for an lbw by Rahat Ali, leaving his side at 13-1.

Smith attempted to steady the Proteas' innings, but he could only muster five runs following a bowl from Ehsan Adil, who forced the batsman's ball into the hands of Younis Khan.

Following a troubled start, South Africa looked to Amla, who reached a Test half-century by lunch, while Faf du Plessis sits alongside his teammates on 29.

The hosts will return after lunch on 104-2.
