Scotland captain "disappointed" by 119-run loss to England

Preston Mommsen is left feeling "disappointed" after Scotland fell to a heavy defeat at the hands of England in the Cricket World Cup.

Scotland captain Preston Mommsen has said that he is "disappointed" with how his team batted during their 119-run defeat to England in Pool A of the Cricket World Cup.

Moeen Ali hit 128 to help England to a healthy 303-8, but Scotland struggled in response as they lost regular wickets on their way to 184 all out.

Mommsen told BBC Sport: "We are disappointed. We didn't take the game as deep as we would have liked to. Going in at half time we thought we were in it. We threatened but that is as far as it got. Kyle [Coetzer] batted beautifully for us but unfortunately he couldn't go on to a big one.

"England had the perfect platform so I think we can take a lot of confidence from how we handled the last 25 overs. We had good plans and the guys executed them well at the death."

Scotland next play Afghanistan on Wednesday.
