Chris Lynn [48], Nathan Reardon [30] and Ben Cutting [27] all made significant contributions at the crease for Brisbane, while 15 from Andrew Flintoff helped to boost their score at the tail of the innings.

Scott Boland, John Hastings and James Faulkner all took two wickets each for Melbourne, who also had Jackson Bird pick up a scalp.

Despite useful knocks from Luke Wright [33], Rob Quiney [45 not out], Faulkner (34) and Tom Triffitt (23), the rest of the Stars' batting lineup failed to make it into double figures.

It came down to the last over to determine the outcome of the match, but it was Brisbane who closed out the victory thanks to some impressive bowling at the death.

Flintoff ended with figures of 2-41, while Ryan Duffield took three wickets. Daniel Christian and Daniel Vettori also did some damage with the ball.
