Brisbane Heat ease past Sydney Thunder

Brisbane Heat earn their second win of this season's Big Bash League with a 48-run victory against Sydney Thunder.

Brisbane Heat have picked up their second win of this season's Big Bash League with a 48-run victory at home to Sydney Thunder.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first before posting a score of 165-5 off their 20 overs. Sydney showed some promise at the crease, but they eventually fell well short as they were bowled out for 117.

Chris Lynn top scored for Brisbane with 56 off 35 balls, while Luke Pomersbach (25), Ben Cutting (25) and Daniel Christian (24) pushed the home side towards a competitive total.

Dirk Nannes did most of the damage with the ball for Sydney as he took three wickets for the loss of 21 runs. Gurinder Sandhu also got in on the act by dismissing Pomersbach.

Mike Hussey hit a defiant knock of 60 out in the middle as Sydney tried to get to the winning target, but Usman Khawaja (10) was the only other player to reach double figures for the under-par visitors.

Cameron Gannon dazzled with the ball with four dismissals to his name, while Mark Steketee, James Hopes and Ben Cutting were among the other wickets.
