Pakistan through to Asia Cup final with dramatic late victory over Bangladesh

Pakistan complete their highest-ever ODI run chase to beat Bangladesh in a thrilling encounter and reach the final of the Asia Cup.

Pakistan have reached the final of the Asia Cup by scoring four runs off the penultimate ball to edge out Bangladesh in a thrilling encounter at Dhaka.

Bangladesh came into the game without a victory so far in the tournament but scored their highest-ever one-day international total of 326.

They lost just four wickets as Anamul Haque (100), Imrul Kayes (59), Mominul Haque (51), Mushfiqur Rahim (51) and Shakib Al Hasan (44) all scored well.

Pakistan had a mountain to climb but like the Bangladeshi openers, Ahmed Shehzad (103) and Mohammad Hafeez (59) began the innings well, building a platform for the middle order to score quickly.

The star for Pakistan was Shahid Afridi, who scored 59 runs off just 25 balls, including seven sixes, before he was run out by Al Hasan in the 47th over.

That left a nerve-wracking final few overs for Pakistan, who needed just three runs off the final over to reach join Sri Lanka in the final.

They started with just one run off the first three balls before Fawad Alam was run out for 74, meaning that two runs were still required from the final two deliveries.

Umar Akmal (14*) was on strike and slogged away to the boundary to complete Pakistan's highest-ever ODI run chase.
