Misbah-ul-Haq steps down as T20 captain

Misbah-ul-Haq resigns as captain of Pakistan's Twenty20 team and is replaced by Mohammad Hafeez.

The Pakistan Circket Board have confirmed that Misbah-ul-Haq has stepped down as captain of the nation's Twenty20 side.

Misbah's decision follows the 2-1 series defeat to England in February but the batsman will continue to lead both the Test and one-day teams.

Mohammad Hafeez has been named as the new Twenty20 skipper and will begin his duties against Sri lanka in June.

PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf said: "Misbah has been a great leader and he will remain captain for the one-days and Tests, but after consulting Misbah, we have decided to appoint Hafeez as new captain for the Twenty20."

Misbah has been left out of the Twenty20 squad following his resignation.
