Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Asif has been released from prison after serving half of a 12-month sentence for match-fixing.

The 29-year-old, who was one of three cricketers jailed in November, becomes the second to be released after Mohammad Amir was freed in February.

Salman Butt, who was handed a 32-month sentence, remains behind bars for his part in the betting scam during Pakistan's tour of England in 2010.

All three players are serving five-year bans from the sport.

Asif was released from Canterbury Prison in Kent this morning.
