Ireland captain William Porterfield has remained upbeat despite his side's defeat to England in their one-day international encounter in Dublin.

Porterfield made 112 runs as the hosts posted a score of 267-7, but England fought back to win the match by six wickets.

"It was nice to get a hundred," BBC Sport quotes the 28-year-old as saying.

"Pulling on the Irish jersey is always special so it's nice to get a tonne in a game like this."

Visiting captain Eoin Morgan ended with the highest knock for either side as he reached 124 not out.
