Namibian cricketer Raymond van Schoor has died five days after suffering a stroke while playing during a match in South Africa.
The 25-year-old was batting in the match on Sunday when he collapsed on the pitch after complaining of dizziness, and though he was taken straight to hospital in a critical condition, he died after suffering from swelling on the brain.
An ambulance arrived at the ground to take him into intensive care after he had taken a sip of water and collapsed into a teammate's arms.
Cricket Namibia president Richard Frankie said in a statement: "Raymond was a tremendous asset to Cricket Namibia and the national cricket team.
"He was taken far too early from us. We however accept that almighty God needed him to represent the heavenly angels. May his soul rest in peace."
Van Schoor played 92 first-class games after making his debut for Namibia in 2007, and was named player of the tournament in the 2012 ICC World T20 qualifiers.
